Drive like a maniac for fun and profit in the Epic Store's next free game

The Epic Games Store, reverting to its pattern of offering daily freebies after a week-long promotion of Destiny 2 Legacy Collection, today showcases Art of Rally. This aesthetic top-down racer hails from the same creator who brought us Absolute Drift.

At first glance, Art of Rally might be dismissed as a mere arcade racing game. However, it beckons with an unanticipated depth of challenge, especially to those players eager to forgo the comfort of driving assists and truly test their mettle. Enthusiasts of rally racing will find themselves enamored with the game's comprehensive roster of classic cars, spanning the golden ages of the 1960s through the 1980s. Notably featured are the notorious Group B cars, whose time in the racing limelight was marked by both exhilarating competition and tragic incidents, leading to their ultimate prohibition by the FIA.

While it's no direct analog to simulations like Project Cars, Art of Rally still poses a healthy challenge to handle, even with the aids activated. Aligning the more cooperative Group 2 vehicles with the intended path often puts one's skills to the test. Mercifully, the game does allow for damage mechanics to be disabled, and thankfully, the in-game bystanders are portrayed as remarkably spry, adept at averting any incoming vehicles. As one might contend in their defense, a QWERTY keyboard hardly serves as the pinnacle of racing controls, especially for intricate maneuvers like the heel-and-toe technique.
