Elon Musk's latest legal action against Twitter could force co-founder Jack Dorsey to take the stand in an upcoming trial.
The tech mogul is suing Twitter, alleging the company failed to provide enough information on fake account numbers. Twitter is countersuing Mr Musk, claiming that he underestimated the number of bots on the platform.
If the case goes to trial, Mr. Dorsey could be called as a witness to support Mr. Musk's argument. The co-founder stepped down as chief executive of Twitter in November last year but has tweeted in support of Mr. Musk's bid to buy the company.
Last month, a US judge ruled that Twitter's lawsuit against Mr. Musk should go to trial in October. Earlier in August, Mr. Musk sold another 7.92 million shares in Tesla, worth around $6.88bn (£5.7bn), stating that he needed the money in case he is forced to buy Twitter.
If the trial goes ahead, it is sure to be a highly publicized affair, with Mr. Musk's lawyers already subpoenaing Mr. Dorsey in an attempt to bolster their case
