Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth seems to be selling quite a lot less than expected

The recent release of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth has reportedly achieved lower sales figures in the United States compared to its predecessors. Industry analyst Mat Piscatella from NPD (Circana), who is an expert on tracking both digital and physical game sales in the U.S., shared insights indicating a significant decline. According to Piscatella, Rebirth's U.S. sales have fallen by a double-digit percentage relative to those of its precursor, Final Fantasy VII: Remake, during the corresponding sales period. This downturn in sales is also noted in comparison with Final Fantasy XVI.
Despite having been on the market for just over two months, Rebirth currently ranks as only the 14th best-selling title in the Final Fantasy series in America. Although the potential release on PC might boost its sales slightly, traditionally, video games tend to see the majority of their sales shortly after launch. Consequently, significant improvements in rankings might remain limited.
There's some speculation on whether these less-than-stellar sales figures will influence the development and expectations surrounding the trilogy’s concluding installment. Adjustments may be considered to align with the series' current market performance.
