Grandfathered YouTube Family Accounts to Become More Expensive

YouTube Premium family plans have been increasing in price as of November 2022. Google has announced that the price of family plan subscribers will be increasing from $18 to $23. However, there is a group of people that have been lucky enough to avoid this price increase so far: those with grandfathered family plans that joined YouTube Red before it was rebranded to YouTube Premium. 

Until now, grandfathered family plan subscribers have only been paying $15. The good news for these users is that the price increase won't be immediate. They will be able to keep their current prices for the time being. However, Google has announced that as of April 13th, 2023, the price of grandfathered accounts will also increase to $23. 

Google also announced that customers with grandfathered plans would receive an email informing them of the upcoming change and providing them with additional information on their options. In addition, they will be able to switch to a regular YouTube Premium family plan and keep their current prices. 

Google has also stated that grandfathered accounts will continue to receive the same features they were previously enjoying, such as ad-free music and access to exclusive content.
