How To Start Using Twitter

Twitter is a social media platform that allows users to share updates, thoughts, and information in 140 characters or less. Although some may view Twitter as a platform for quick news bites and interruptions, it can actually be a great tool for networking, building relationships, and sharing information.

Before you can start using Twitter, you need to create an account. To do this, go to Twitter.com and enter your name, email address, and password. Once you sign up, you can start creating your profile. When creating your profile, be sure to include a photo and information about yourself so that others can get to know you.

Once your profile is created, you can start following other users and organizations. To find people to follow, you can search for keywords, name, or interests. You can also look at the list of who someone else is following to find users that might be interesting to you. When you find someone you want to follow, simply click on the “follow” button next to their name.

Now that you are following people, you will start to see their updates in your timeline. The timeline is a list of updates from all the people you are following, displayed in chronological order. To post your own update, simply type your message into the box at the top of the page and click “tweet.”

You can also reply to other users’ tweets by clicking the “reply” button underneath their tweets. To view a conversation, just click on the tweet and it will expand to show all the replies.

In addition to tweeting and replying, you can also retweet. Retweeting is like sharing someone else’s tweet with all of your followers. To retweet, just click on the “retweet” button underneath the tweet. You can also add your own thoughts to a retweet by clicking on the “quote tweet” button. This will allow you to tweet the original message with your own commentary.

As you start using Twitter more, you will develop your own tweeting style. Some people use Twitter to share news articles, others use it to share their own thoughts and musings, and still, others use it to share helpful tips and advice. No matter how you choose to use Twitter, it can be a great way to connect with others and share information.
